Our Patron Saint
St. Gerard (1726 - 1755)
Gerard's devotion to the Blessed Sacrament was evident from an early age. Following his death, his mother testified, "My child's only happiness was in church, on his knees before the Blessed Sacrament. In the house he prayed all day. He was born for Heaven."
Following instruction in the trade of a tailor, Gerard joined the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer. There were examples of supernatural phenomena attributed to him yet this was not the reason for his canonization. It was his goodness, charity and devotion which made him a model for many.
His short but truly saintly existence came to an end at the age of twenty-nine. The feast of St. Gerard is recognized on October 16 and he is the Patron Saint of expectant mothers.
