To the Dufferin-Peel Community:
This month, the board published the results of the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) provincial standardized assessments. Local results are available at the school, and hopefully, these results have created opportunities for professional conversations.
As educators, we all know that no test can sum up the learning of a student. However, at the same time, the EQAO assessments do carry significant importance to parents, the Ministry of Education, our board and the larger community. While these tests are just one means of assessment, they remain, nonetheless, one of the tools that educators have at their disposal, for the programming and assessment of student work.
Our results, this year, continue to demonstrate overall high levels of performance. In many areas, we surpassed the provincial average and we continue to demonstrate improvement. In some areas, however, we must continue to marshal our resources to help our students progress. The results are a tribute to many - teachers, administrators, trustees, senior board personnel, board support staff, students, parents, and the broader parish communities - all of whom seek to promote and support student achievement.
On behalf of the board, I want to thank you for your efforts at improving student achievement as demonstrated on the EQAO assessments and in your daily assessment of student work. The Ministry of Education identified three specific goals for Education: high levels of student achievement, closing the gaps in student achievement, and continued confidence in publically supported education. Our results, this year, demonstrate our continued attention to these goals.
Below are the overall Primary, Junior and Secondary EQAO results for Dufferin-Peel.
