TRANSITION MEETING WITH GOETZ FEEDER SCHOOLS
On January 25, 2011, Father Michael Goetz hosted a “Lunch and Learn” meeting with its seven Catholic feeder schools to discuss the transition process for their grade 8 students who will be transferring to FMG in September. A Goetz panel consisting of school administrators, as well as representatives from Guidance, Special Education, Student Success, ESL/ELL, Math, English, our Child Youth Worker and our community Settlement Worker briefed elementary staff on the services available at Goetz for incoming grade 9 students. Round-table discussions by area of specialty followed. Materials and instructions were distributed in preparation for our second phase of Transition meetings, held in April, to familiarize staff with in-coming grade nine students who may, for a variety of reasons, be academically at-risk, and to determine how best to meet these students’ needs.
