The Catalogue is a collection of bibliographic records of our collection, which includes:

 

¨              Non-fiction works focusing on subjects related to the school curriculum

         

Non-fiction materials are classified and arranged by Dewey Decimal Classification System which is subject based.  The Dewey system is broken into ten general subject areas, represented by the first digit of that number:

    • 000 - Generalities
    • 100 - Philosophy & Psychology
    • 200 - Religion
    • 300 - Social sciences
    • 400 - Language
    • 500 - Natural sciences & Mathematics
    • 600 - Technology
    • 700 - The arts
    • 800 - Literature & Rhetoric
    • 900 - Geography & History

 

¨             Paperbacks, of different genres for literary study or pleasure  reading.

  

          Paperbacks are assigned with Call Numbers starting with "F", followed by the author's last name.  Fiction written by Canadian authors is assigned with the Call number "F CAN", followed by the author's last name.

 

¨             Graphic works and Easy Read collection

 

         Graphic works are assigned with Call Numbers starting with "G", followed by the author's last name. 

         Easy Read Collection is assigned with Call Numbers starting with "E".

     

¨              Classical literature by award-winning writers

 

¨              Reference books

         

          Reference books are assigned with Call numbers starting with "REF" .  These materials cannot be removed from the library. 

 

¨              Atlases

¨              Teacher reference materials

¨              French books, including fiction and non-fiction; with Call Numbers starting with "FRE".

³               Video Tape, CD-ROM, and DVD of movies adapted from popular novels

 

  In the Vertical File section, there is a collection of maps, posters,  

            brochures, as well as newspaper and magazine clippings.

 

   The Library also subscribes to three national newspapers and nearly forty periodicals of different interests.
