Library Minute
sponsored by the Fr. Michael Goetz Resource Centre

We would like to think of our Resource Centre as a large buffet of books, catering to the varied tastes and appetites of our FMG patrons. Our goal is to constantly expand our collection, in order to reflect the ever changing reading culture of our school. We base this on the analysis of our circulation statistics, as well as the entries recorded by students and staff in our Book Wish List folder.
Our ongoing objective is twofold. We want to lure reluctant readers to the library and expose them to the wide assortment of reading materials made available to them in their school setting and we want to present a collection, which will stimulate the reading appetites of seasoned readers.
We strive to complete two large books orders each year and we create displays in the library which feature these new acquisitions. Our new initiative, designed to promote these new books, as well as reminding our community of old favourites on the shelf, will be called the Library Minute. Each Wednesday, at the start of Morning Announcements, a book from our collection will be reviewed in an “express” format – under one minute in duration. All staff and students are invited to participate in this program to promote reading at FMG, by suggesting a book title and/or preparing and delivering a review of a favourite book from the collection.
We have made the decision to archive these reviews on our FMG Library site. It will be our answer to the question, “Do you have anything interesting to read?” Take a look at our suggestions and don’t hesitate to ask for assistance in locating these books on the shelves. In the meantime, Happy Reading to you all!
