Assessment and Evaluation
Throughout this course a variety of assessment strategies will be used to evaluate student performance. Assessment tools that reflect all four categories will be used for both teacher and student-directed evaluation. Formative assessment will be relied upon heavily as a means of involving you in the evaluation process- via rubrics, checklists, and appropriate oral and written feedback. Summative assessment will take place closer to the end of a unit in order to determine that which you have learned.
The final grade on the report card will reflect 70% summative course work (produced daily) and 30% final summative work (i.e. examination, culminating assignment). Absences and punctuality are recorded separately as formative assessments and are reported in the learning skills chart on the report card.
