DANCE TEAM

As of 2005, Holy Name of Mary was proud to present the first HNM Competitive Dance Team.  The team has been successfully going since then.  This year, there are approximately 20 dancers on the team.  There is a ballet, jazz, lyrical and hip hop component.  They practice 1-2 days a week for about 1.5 hours.  They fundraise as a team to cover the costs of their costumes and competition fees.  They have organized a yearly Dance Benefit held in the school where the HNM community participates and supports the team while the dance team members perform an excellent show!  They have had the opportunity to train at Mississauga’s Living Arts Centre.  They have also participated in workshops at the Premiere Dance Theatre led by Christopher House and his dancers.  The team was able to successfully showcase their works and win many trophies at dance competitions like, Bedazzled in Hamilton, Flashdance in Niagara Falls, Dance Dance Canada in Brantford, To the Extreme and Kiwanis in Toronto and I Love Dance in Buffalo, U.S.A.
