AWP 2O1, Sculpture, Grade 10, Open

Description/Rationale:

By combining traditional and contemporary art forms with new art forms, this Sculpture class will offer students further development in the elements and principles of design, knowledge of artist, and art heritage. The student will develop an understanding of 3 dimensional arts using a variety of media. The student will explore the many uses of sculpture, from the simple handmade forms of early cultures to the extremely varied application of sculpture in today’s modern society. The student will develop an understanding of how sculpture’s function has changed throughout the history of man and why these changes have taken place. They will have the opportunity for creative expression through using their imagination and acquired skills. Teacher demonstrations will be provided showing a variety of sculptural techniques. Students will keep a sketchpad/notebook and develop a portfolio. Varieties of media art are created with a focus on the solving of expressive and creative problems in the context of Gospel values.
