Iona Catholic Secondary School is in the second year of an exciting pathway. The Iona Catholic Secondary School Arts & Culture Pathway continues to build on its successful ways. We are open for applications to all Mississauga Grade 8 students entering grade nine in September 2008 and all Mississauga grade 9 students wishing to enter the Arts Pathway in Grade 10 in September 2008.
The intensive Arts & Culture Pathway will be a viable Catholic alternative for those students who would normally pursue their Arts education at a specific school of the arts. Our Arts & Culture Pathway will require students to partake in an intake process which includes an application, recommendations, interview, audition, portfolio, and preparation session.
The Arts & Culture Pathway program is designed to meet the diverse learning needs of all students in areas such as dance, drama, vocal music, instrumental music, photography and visual arts.
Students living outside the Iona Catholic Secondary School catchment area are also welcome to apply with the condition and understanding that transportation will not be supplied by the school board.
We are very excited about this successful initiative and our school community will work hard with parents, students and our Mississauga partner schools to make this an even better chapter in Iona’s school history. This Pathway is one representation of Iona’s alignment with one of the “6 Ways to Student Success in High School” (http://www.edu.go.on.ca/eng/6ways/).
Information regarding the “Iona Catholic Secondary School Arts & Culture Pathway” will be delivered to elementary schools. If you have any questions about the program prior to the application process please feel free to contact myself or Guidance Department at Iona Catholic S.S. (905-823-0136). Also, you may access information and application packages on our school website at http://www.dpcdsb.org/IONAS.
A parent information night to kick off the third year of the “Iona Catholic Arts & Culture Pathway” program will be forthcoming in the fall of 2008.
In conclusion, Iona Catholic Secondary School will continue to offer all of its exceptional academic programs and extra curricular activities. Our community is ecstatic by the tremendous interest and support. We are proud of our reputation and will continue to provide excellence in Catholic education!
God Bless
