MUSIC PROGRAM
Instrumental and Vocal Music

Iona's Music Department is an exciting and dynamic program. Our Instrumental and Vocal Music Program is designed to offer students an appreciation of music through practical skill and creative work. Our courses aim at building musicianship and critical thinking skills through the study of theory, history, and music analysis, technique, composition and performance. Various musical styles and genres are studied ranging from classical to jazz to pop/rock music with an emphasis on popular culture and the impact of music on today’s society.
Rehearsals and performances are an integral part of the program in order to improve the student's musicianship and appreciation for all musical genres. Professional Musicians will also be invited to come in and conduct clinics/master classes on various musical experiences as a performer and audience member through various excursions and out of school performance’s where students will be involved both as performers and audience members.
