St. Martin of Tours
St. Martin of Tours was born in Hungary to pagan parents in the fourth century. Martin served in the Roman army. As a soldier he gave half of his military coat to a beggar and a vision of Christ drew him toward the religious life. He built a monastery in Liguge where he was chosen Bishop of Tours in 371. His Feast Day is November 11th. The pictures of St. Martin always portray the sharing of a coat. It depicts the dream that the rich and poor can live in love and solidarity and share what they have in each other.
