Course Name

 

Instrumental Music-Band                                         Grade 9, Open (AMI1O)

This course emphasizes the performance of music at a level that strikes a balance between

challenge and skill and is aimed at developing technique, sensitivity, and imagination. Students will participate in creative activities that teach them to listen with understanding. They will also learn correct musical terminology and its appropriate use.

Instrumental Music-Band                                                     Grade 10, Open (AMI2O)

This course emphasizes performance of music at an intermediate level that strikes a balance

between challenge and skill. Student learning will include participating in creative activities

and listening perceptively. Students will also be required to develop a thorough understanding of the language of music, including the elements, terminology, and history.

Prerequisite: None

 

 

Instrumental Music-Band     Grade 11, University/College Preparation (AMI3M)

This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of  various kinds of music, including baroque and classical music, popular music, and Canadian and non-Western music.  Students will perform technical exercises and appropriate repertoire, complete detailed creative activities, and analyse and evaluate live and recorded performances. They will continue to increase their understanding of the elements of music while developing their technical and imaginative abilities.

Prerequisite: Music, Grade 9 or 10, Open

 

 

Instrumental Music- Band Grade 12, University/College Preparation (AMI4M)

This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of music from the romantic period and the twentieth century, including art music, jazz, popular music, and Canadian and non-Western music. Students will concentrate on developing interpretive skills and the ability to work independently. They will also complete complex creative projects.

Personal and Fitness Activities- Fitness Training                Grade 11, Open (PAF3OF)

This course focuses on the development of a personalized approach to healthy active living

through participation in a variety of sports and recreational activities that have the potential to

engage students’ interest throughout their lives. Students will develop and implement personal physical fitness plans. In addition, they will be given opportunities to refine their decision making, conflict-resolution, and interpersonal skills, with a view to enhancing their mental health and their relationships with others. Students will develop and implement a personal physical fitness and nutrition plan.

This course focuses on the development of a personalized approach to healthy active living

through participation in a variety of sports and recreational activities that have the potential to

In addition, they will be given opportunities to refine their decision making, conflict-resolution, and interpersonal skills, with a view to enhancing their mental health and their relationships with others. The focus of this course is on weight training and those who are serious about improving their cardiovascular and strength fitness

Construction Engineering Technology, Grade 12, College Preparation (TCJ4C)

This course enables students to further develop knowledge and skills related to residential construction and to explore light commercial construction. Students will gain hands on experience using a variety of materials, processes, tools, and equipment and will learn more about building design and project planning. They will continue to create and interpret construction drawings and will extend their knowledge of construction terminology and of relevant building codes and regulations, as well as health and safety standards and practices. Students will also focus on environmental and societal issues related to construction engineering technology, and explore career opportunities in the field.  This two credit course focuses on residential and recreational on site constructions. Students will learn about the tools, materials, equipment and methods used in light construction. They will also estimate materials and labour costs and explore careers in the industry. There will be an additional fee for this course.
