Prayer of the Faithful or General Intercessions
(Based on the Ten Commandments and written by our staff as part of a Staff Faith Day)
1. For the grace of fidelity to our vocational call in baptism to love and serve God with a spirit and practice of unconditional love, we pray to the LORD:
2. For the grace of understanding, that we may ever honour the all holy Name of God in all of our actions and words, we pray to the LORD:
3. For the gift of stillness, that we may learn to rest in God, listen to and delight in His presence rendering praise and glory unto Him alone, we pray to the LORD:
4. For parents and children that they may nurture the image of God in one another through the virtues of faith, hope and love, we pray to the LORD:
5. For a profound appreciation of the sanctity of all human persons from conception until natural death, that all of our thoughts, words and actions may be life giving and free of any violence, we pray to the LORD:
6. For the grace of chastity in all of our thoughts, words and actions so that we might see the radiant glory of God’s grace and beauty in each person, we pray to the LORD:
7. For the grace to appreciate all things in God’s creation and act as responsible stewards of what God has bestowed upon us for the building up of the Body of Christ, we pray to the LORD:

For Celebrating Life
“The love of God does not distinguish between the newly-conceived infant still in it’s mothers womb, the baby, the youth, the grown adult or the elderly, because in each of them He sees the sign of His own image and likeness.”
Pope Benedict XVI
For Vocations
Lord Jesus, as You once called the first disciples to make them fishers of me, let your sweet invitation continue to resound: Come, follow Me! Give young men and women the grace of responding quickly to Your voice. Support our bishops, priests and consecrated people in their apostolic labour. Grant perseverance to our seminarians and to all those who are carrying out the ideal of a life totally consecrated to Your service. Mary, Mother of the Church, the model of every vocation, help us to say “Yes” to the Lord Who calls us to cooperate in the divine plan of salvation. Amen.
Pope John Paul II
For Reflection
I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phones…
What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to kids as gifts?
What if we used it as we traveled?
What if we used it in case of an emergency?
Ask yourself – do you know where your cell phone is? What about your Bible? Do you even have a Bible?
Too often our world’s priorities overshadow the priorities we should have as Christians. I invite you today to think about this every time you reach for your cell phone!
The Garden
A poem written by Uzma Azim (former gr.12)
I went to a garden one spring day.
And watched the flowers wave and sway.
Their gorgeous colours light of bright
Red, pink, violet, yellow and white.
I love their scent nice and sweet.
They are unhappy but have no conceit.
The drops of dew on the blooming buds.
The song of wind and the singing birds.
The leaves on stem, the grass on ground.
When I see I often astound.
The Lord of the world who made this whole.
Must be praised by heart and soul.
