The Mirror is St. Joseph’s official school newspaper. For over nine years, it has been successful in keeping our community well informed of the issues and activities in our school community, as well as entertaining us. It has taken a team of dedicated and responsible students to produce each edition of the paper, a team supported with steady leadership. This year’s Editor-in-Chief, Albert Vesleno, is also the recipient of the Toronto Star Award for first prize in Sports Photography. The Toronto Star Awards are conducted each year to recognize excellence in the production of high school newspapers. A panel of experts from the Toronto Star review submissions from Ontario high schools to select winners in numerous categories. Winners are selected from over 1,000 submissions, so being chosen is indeed a testament to talent and dedication. Once the selection has been made, TheToronto Star hosts an amazing luncheon, complete with a guest speaker and an awards ceremony. Winners are given a plaque and a cash prize and they are part of a group photo which is always shown in the paper the following day. Congratulations to all members of The Mirror staff who worked so hard this year to produce our school newspaper, and congratulations to Albert for both his leadership and his well-earned award.
