St. Kevin School Pastoral Plan

Through Him, With Him, In Him, We Learn . . .

SCHOOL PRIORITIES

The community of St. Kevin School will continue to strive to enhance the spiritual life, mission and vision of the school as a self-renewing community.  We will continue to foster collaboration with all members through on-going discussions and planning for:

Liturgy - Worship:
Eucharist as well as Liturgy of the Word is celebrated by the whole school, divisions and individual classes.  The Pastor, Parents and Administrators are invited to join in the celebrations.

Faith Development:
Staff, students and parents are involved in learning more about our faith and living fully to respond to daily and future challenges.

Through Him, With Him, In Him We Learn...
At our Acknowledgement and Encouragement Assemblies each month we celebrate students from each class who have been identified as demonstrating a particular Virtue:  Faith, Empathy, Conscience, Hope, Self-Control, Respect. Kindness, Love, Acceptance, Fairness.

Catechesis:
Students receive daily instruction about their faith using the official programme of the Canadian Church.  Family Life is also taught.  Throughout the day, students are encouraged to live as Jesus would.

Our Pastoral Plan is actualized through our activities as well as by our daily focus on:

Prayer & Reflection:
Prayer begins and ends our day:  Morning offering, Prayer to St. Kevin, Grace before meals, Act of Contrition.

Opening Exercises are led by students.  Time for reflection occurs during individual and ritual prayer, sacramental preparation, staff meetings and quiet times.

Building Community / Faith Enrichment:
Time is taken in school, in church and away for staff and students to reflect and renew ourselves.  Themes/specific actions which enhance communication and ministry are chosen as a focus.

Presence:  Personal Contact/ Availability to others:
The members of our community strive to model our lives on the teachings of Jesus Christ and to recognize Him in each other.
In our desire to live as a people of Hope, we shall continue to be in service to others:

Community outreach:
We continue to demonstrate our awareness of the needs of others, as well as those of the environment, through involvement in volunteer and recycling programs, food drives, support of charitable organizations, particularly Share Life, as well as individuals and groups within our community.
