The Cardinal Leger Mathematics Department strives to ensure the academic success and social well-being of each of our students. We help our students develop confidence in their mathematical abilities by teaching them in a respectful/diverse classroom environment. Students not only gain the mathematical knowledge they need to be successful in life but also learn to be valuable members of our community.

Mathematics is involved in every career as well as most aspects of life in general. From the carpenter who needs to determine the correct amount of materials or what angle to construct a beam at, to the pilot who knows the load factor on her wings, as well as her rate of climb, descent, speed and direction, all these require a strong mathematical sense. It is mathematics that supports the use of statistics to reach accurate conclusions in the fields of psychology and sociology, to name only two of many. Engineering, medicine, accounting, software developing, economics, chemistry, geology, and business all rest on a foundation of math. Truly, there are few vocations that do not require the kind of thinking that math develops.
