Cardinal Léger Exemplary Student Award
The purpose of this program is to acknowledge and promote students to participate in the faith, academic, and extra-curricular life of the school community. In attaining the qualifying criteria, students are encouraged to be self-directed, life–long learners who integrate their faith into their daily lives.
Students are required to maintain a portfolio of their activities and achievements, which will contain letters from administrators, teachers, guidance counsellors, attendance secretaries, and staff advisors of various clubs and/or teams. The portfolio is to be submitted to Student Council for review within the first week of the school year.
To recognize Cardinal Léger Exemplary Students a sweater with a special crest will be awarded to students who meet criteria 1 and 2 and any three of the remaining criteria:
1. Commitment To Your Faith
A letter from your parish priest or school chaplain which explains your ongoing parish involvement or Catholic School leadership.
2. Adherence to School Rules & Expectations
A letter from your vice–principal stating that you have no suspensions on your secondary school record for the past 4 semesters.
3. Extracurricular Service
Letters from supervisors (coaches, teachers, etc.) stating your involvement on high school sanctioned clubs/teams and the number of hours involved in that activity. Students are to accumulate a minimum of 200 hours of extracurricular service.
4. Service
Letter(s) from supervisors of community service hours. A minimum of 75 hours of community service is necessary.
5. Academic
A minimum of 80% average in 12 out of your last 16 courses taken at Cardinal Léger Secondary School.
6. Attendance
Perfect attendance in 2 of your last 4 semesters at Cardinal Léger Secondary School.
