The Canadian and World Studies program encompasses many fields of study. With disciplines such as history, geography, law, civics, and humanities, students learn how people interact with and within their social and physical environments today and how they did so in the past. Canadian and World studies courses give students essential knowledge and transferable skills that are applicable in their personal and family lives, post secondary studies and future workplace endeavors. These subjects teach students to assess and analyze how events, ideas, and values affect society. The concepts and issues that are taught in these courses will help foster a common vision on issues and policies that promote our Catholic values. The curriculum will continue to further develop our students’ catholic attitudes and values which will enable our students to grow as transformational agents.
Courses in Canadian and World Studies will:
· Involve students in research, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making.
· Help students develop strong communication, reading, and writing skills
· Give students the opportunity to us information technology to collect, organize, interpret, and present information.
