What is Co-op about?
Cooperative Education is a program offered at
St. Martin
for students to learn skills that will later benefit them while in the workplace. A student’s co-operative program consists of the co-operative education course, which is monitored by two teachers, and the related curriculum (that is, activities related to your desired placement).
Students are graded on their in-class work, as well as their ability to apply their skills and knowledge at their placement. Cooperative Education allows students to participate in valuable learning experiences that help prepare them for the next stages of their lives, be it college, university or work.
This course is designed for students to explore career options and to gather information they will need to make informed decisions about their post secondary education.
The St. Martin Cooperative Education course is unique in the way that students can earn from 1 to 4 credits depending on their requirements. Co-op placements are arranged for students by their school and must follow Ministry
of Education policies and guidelines.
