On Thursday March 3, author Marina Nemat will be a guest speaker in our library during Period 2 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.

In 1982, when Marina Nemat was 16 years old, she was arrested on false charges by Iranian Revolutionary Guards and thrown into Tehran's notorious Evin Prison where she was tortured and witnessed the execution of her friends.  She survived her ordeal because a prison guard fell in love with her and threatened to harm her family if she did not marry him and convert to Islam.  Marina Nemat's incredible story is " a testament to the power of love in the face of evil and injustice".
