ARC (Accommodation Review Committee)
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will be starting an Pupil Accommodation Review process. This is a process which undertakes the necessary steps to enable the board to determine whether it should close school in the future. The process is in accordance with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board Pupil Accommodation Review Regulation and complies with the Ministry of Education Pupil Accommodation Review Guidelines.
The Board’s Planning Department has undertaken an analysis of capacity and enrolment for all elementary and secondary schools in Dufferin-Peel. The Bramalea North Accommodation Review Area consisting of Mother Mary Ward, St. Anthony, St. Marguerite Bourgeoys and Lester b. Pearson elementary school has been identified as an area with enrolments below 250 students, enrolments lower than 50% of capacity and/or an area experiencing an overall declining enrolment.
An Accommodation Review Committee has been established to compile and consider data and options for each school in the Accommodation review Area. Schools in the Accommodation Review Areas may be considered for one or more of the following: consolidation and/or closure; as a receiving school; reorganization by way of a boundary adjustment or redirection of specialty programs; or simply be included in the geographical area.
The Accommodation Review Committee made up of Board staff, school principals, school council chairpersons, teacher representatives, and parish representatives will be considering long term accommodation options and will also be conducting a public consultation process to obtain input from the local community. In this regard, the Accommodation Review Committee will be convening four publish meetings to provide the public with an opportunity to ask question, obtain additional information and express their comments on matters.
Below is an outline of the meetings.
