The Crest
Our crest was designed by a team of parents - R. Klobucar, S. Mota, P. Juffre, A. Caravatta, K. Dalcin & M. Mack - and was used for the first time in May 2008, for the Solemn School Blessing. The design incorporates facets of our school and Faith: the cross, and rosary as Catholic symbols important to Father McSpiritt; the images representing Faith, scholarship, physical and artistic endeavours and talents. We also acknowledge the inspiration of Mrs. Paun's art class for part of the design.
The Motto
The motto - In Hoc Signo Vinces - has its roots in history. According to historical tradition, the Emperor Constantine adopted this phrase as his motto, when he saw a vision of the cross in the sky, prior to battle. Translated as "In this sign, we will be victorious," it became Constantine's rallying cry.
Father Francis McSpiritt was a strong believer in the power of the cross, so we have chosen the symbol and phrase for our school.
