United Cats Hockey
On Friday February 10th, St. Brigid and St. Angela Merici students, parents and friends came out in large numbers, filling Cassie Campbell Community Centre, to watch the United cats verse St Josephine Bahkita./Willimas Parkway in the Brampton NorthWest Hockey Tournament Championship. The United Cats got off to a one nothing first period lead with Jacob finding the back of the net. The opposition came back to tie the game in second period. The teams battled end to end and the tension grew with both teams pressing forward. The third period ended and the teams were locked in a 1-1 tie. The winning team would be decided in breakaway shootouts. Twice being down a goal in the shootout, the United Cats fought back under incredible pressure with comeback goals from Tyler and Noah to draw even with the opposition, bringing everyone in the crowd to their feet. United Cats goalie Andrew shut the door on the final two Bahkita/William Parkway shooters, which set the stage for Griffin's thrilling
championship goal! The crowd went wild as the players emptied the benches and piled on each other in celebration of their victorious win. This is the second consecutive win for the United Cats. The coaches couldn’t say enough about how proud they are of all the players. They demonstrated incredible perseverance and commitment to the game and each other throughout the entire tournament, which made us all proud. Congratulations to these United Cats:
