Retreats

 

Retreats will follow our pastoral theme by celebrating Christ’s presence while building community and virtues.

 

Grade 9 – St. Anne’s Parish.  Facilitated by Chaplain, 6 senior student leaders, and 2 grade 9 homeroom teachers.  Students will attend 9:15 am parish mass and will build a positive community while practicing virtues such as acceptance, cooperation, trust, and love.  Senior student volunteers will practice leadership, empathy and responsibility.

 

Grade 10 – Mount Alverno Centre.  Facilitated by Jewels for Jesus’ Relationship Compass retreat program.  Religion students will learn about and be encouraged to practice virtues such as chastity, self-control, and love in the context of dating relationships.

 

Grade 11 – Ecology Retreat Centre.  Facilitated by Daisy Radigan and Bob Isenberg (Co-creating Cosmically).  Religion and I.B. students will explore various symbols of the universal spiritual journey through the creation story, ecology and world religions, including a Catholic perspective on mandalas and labyrinths. 

 

Grade 12 – YMCA Cedar Glen.  Facilitated by Chaplain.  Religion and I.B. students will focus on developing good character through exploring the question, “Who do you want to be in the future?” Students will practice virtue through either a high ropes or low ropes challenge.  The concept of vocation and discernment for the future will be discussed.

 

Co-op retreat – St. Anne’s Parish at the start of each semester.  Facilitated by Chaplain for half-day retreat on the spirituality of the workplace and the virtues required of a faith-filled employee.  Sept. 16.

 

PIP retreat – T.B.A.

 

Salesian retreat – selected senior students will participate in or lead 3-day Catholic leadership retreat on April 28-30.  Notre Dame will participate at least once a year in this Board-wide collaboration.

 

NET retreat – any student in any grade is welcome to this overnight retreat just for Notre Dame students at Mount Alverno on Tues. Feb. 15 to Wed. Feb. 16.
