Faith Formation

Walking in the Light of Christ

For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD ...  to give you a future with hope.

Jeremiah 29:11-12

St. Nicholas School’s Pastoral Plan envisions and welcomes whole heartedly a distinctive partnership between home, school, and parish. This partnership is not new, in fact, it is continually evolving.  As we celebrate Catholic Education at St. Nicholas School, we understand that we are part of a rich tradition and heritage that has provided a foundation upon which we can build a vibrant school community. In our partnership, we accept and understand that academic excellence, within a Catholic context, cannot be achieved alone.  We invite your participation in shaping a caring, faith community of learners that strives for excellence in learning, and compassion for the marginalized.  At the heart of Catholic Education is Christ.  We come to know Christ more fully through the guidance and wisdom of our pastors and participation in church.

Our Pastoral Plan embraces faith formation, evangelization, social justice, stewardship and faith leadership among staff and students. We seek to collectively support students in deepening  their faith and relationship with God, through Jesus. By participation in daily, weekly and monthly faith related experiences, students develop and grow in faith.  The Catholic School is a way of being and interacting.  Our faith is a part of. all we do.  In our daily opening  exercises ,in all subject matter, during daily formalized religious instruction, in community gatherings, in the school yard, during liturgical celebrations and student activities that reach beyond the school, we are called to be Christ for others.

All who thirst, let them come to the waters.

As a result, students are challenged to use their “faith-enriched” learning to build caring communities and contribute to the greater good of our world for the benefit of all.  We invite parents to join us as a school community in our many gatherings throughout the year.  As we continue on our collective faith journey, ever deepening our relationship with God, may we always be mindful of our many blessings.
