Following are the highlights of the Dec. 11 meeting of the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board.
► Trustees received the Director’s Annual Report which provided an overview of the 2006-07 school year. This report will be sent to the Ministry of Education, schools, other boards, and will be posted online.
► The Board received a report outlining a summary of approved overseas excursions for 2008 and 2009. The outline includes 22 secondary school excursions and one elementary excursion.
► The Board approved the Annual Accessibility Plan, as required under the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001. The plan describes measures that the board has taken and will take in the coming year to identify, remove and prevent barriers to people with disabilities. This is the Dufferin-Peel’s fifth annual plan since the legislation was introduced.
► Trustees approved a number of resolutions that will be taken forward to the Ontario Catholic School Trustees Association’s annual general meeting.
► Trustees established board representation on Standing, Statutory and Ad Hoc Committees and Committees Established by Outside Agencies for 2008. This is an annual requirement for the board.
► The board received the transfer of Fred Albi, Principal of Cardinal Newman Elementary School to Principal of St. Josephine Bakhita Catholic Elementary School, effective September 1, 2008.
