Our Lady of Mercy School was first opened in September 1997. At that time it was held at St. Elizabeth Seton and continued to share that facility until our own building was ready. At this time the Chair of the Board was Mr. P. Meany and the Director was Mr. M. Bator.
After researching and discussing various options the Board trustees voted to speed up the opening of an elementary school in this area by dismantling a vacant high school building in Brampton, and moving it to the Mississauga site. This building was refurbished to accommodate elementary students and in January 1998 students were able to move into their own building here at 5820 Glen Erin Drive.
In 2004 an addition was added to the school in order to move the various portables that were in the back of the school.
We are proud of the fact that we have 5 staff members who were originally on staff when the school opened.
During the history of Our Lady of Mercy we have had 3 principals, and 6 vice principals working in the office alongside our school secretaries.
