STUDENT SUCCESS INITIATIVE
Ontario's Student Success Strategy, which began in 2003, is a multi-phased initiative designed to provide all secondary students with opportunities for success both in school and in their post secondary destinations. One part of the initiative deals with early school leavers. Provisions and changes to the education system are being implemented in order to improve the graduation rate. Student Success Initiatives (SSI)(www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/6ways/ ) include Student Success Teachers (SST) who are part of the changes occurring across Ontario that are directly related to the Ministry of Education plan to raise the number of students that graduate with an OSSD.
