Expectations  and  Policies

The School Library Information Centre serves as a quiet place to read, work, or study.  All users are required to respect the needs of others, comply with all school rules, and promptly and politely comply with all requests from staff.

EVERYONE who uses the School Library is expected to be a good “library citizen”.  If you are not a good library citizen, then you may be asked to leave, denied library privileges, or referred to your Vice-Principal.  Remember, the School Library is for everyone, and just as other people have to respect your rights, you have to respect their rights.  When everyone cooperates, then the School Library is a pleasant place for everyone.

Behaviour:  Remember the “Four Rs”:

Responsibility - Every student is expected to:

·        behave in a responsible manner;

·        follow all school and library rules, including the uniform policy;

·        have appropriate ID (Pocock Student Card);

·        take good care of/make appropriate use of the School Library facility, equipment, and resources (e.g. no card games or computer games, no food/drink/candy/gum);

·        return all materials on time and in good condition (overdue and replacement fees will be charged).

Respect – Every student is expected to:

·        respect all staff members (e.g. be cooperative and polite);

·        respect all School Library users and their needs (e.g. work quietly).

Research and Reading – Every student is expected to:

·        remember that the School Library is a place for quiet and productive work, such as researching, reading, studying, and homework.
