              Student Clerks:  Program Description

 

Program Contact:     H. Roane, Library Technician

 

The School Library offers selected students an opportunity to earn Community Service or Christian Service hours by participating in the work necessary to keep the School Library running smoothly.  This is of benefit to the entire school community.

 

Work done by the Student Clerks includes:

Ø      shelving books and other materials

Ø      shelf reading (keeping the shelves, periodicals, etc. in order)

Ø      processing magazines

Ø      processing new books

Ø      providing service at the Circulation Desk

Ø      photocopying and other clerical tasks

Ø      other appropriate tasks as necessary

 

Interested students are welcome to:

Ø      help create bulletin board and other displays

Ø      share their expertise with various computer applications

Ø      contribute to the School Library by making suggestions regarding collection development, program (special events, workshops etc.), policies, and so on

 

The benefits of working as a Student Library Clerk include:

Ø      earning Community Service/Christian Service hours

Ø      gaining job experience and references for job applications

Ø      gaining a greater understanding of library organization, research, etc.
