Battle of the Books

On Thursday, April 28th six Grade 6 students from Pauline Vanier School participated in the first-ever Battle of the Books event sponsored by South Fletcher's Public Library and the Brampton Teen Library Council. The Grade 6 students who volunteered to read a novel on their own time, faced off to answer a battery of questions prepared by the Library Team Council, testing their knowledge of the novel and measuring the ability to respond quickly under pressure. The Battle of the Books, which took the form of a Jeopardy Game engaged the competive spirit of the students and motivated previously reluctant readers. The library and the school agreed that the event was a huge success and look forward  to a bigger and better version of the Battle of the Books next season. The participants were Ashley, Lukasz, Blake, Christian, Kiara, and Aaron.

The grade 5 students in Mr. Gutt's class built and tested various bridges to see how much weight they could hold.
