VARSITY BOYS BASEBALL
After a disappointing loss to D’Youville on Tuesday, the Wolfpack travelled down to Brampton to spar with the Notre Dame Knights. The pitching was excellent on the day, as Fabio DiRoma only allowed 1 run on the day to earn the win, with Damien Allison coming on to earn the save for a 2 – 1 victory. The bats were lead by Joe “Meatball Marinara” Remm who drove in both runs with a single and a double. The Pack have now qualified for the playoffs for the 1st time in 4 years and will play their ¼ final game this Friday against probable opponent Brampton Centennial at Fallingbrook Field in Mississauga.
VARSITY BOYS BASEBALL
After a great come from behind victory last week to open the season vs. Aquinas, the Wolfpack baseball team played against the Humberview Huskies and Heart Lake S.S. on Thursday May 10. In both games, the starting pitchers were excellent as both Leo Labine and Fab DiRoma held Humberview and Heart Lake to only 1 run each over their 4 innings of work. However, in both games, the bullpen and the bats were as cold as the wind blowing over the North Hill, as Hall would lose to Humberview by a score of 5 - 1 and lose the second game to Heart Lake 9 - 3. But the ROPSSAA baseball season is short and it would be a quick turnaround for the Pack as they would have another doubleheader on Monday May 14 vs. Mayfield and St. Edmund Campion. In the 1st game, Leo Labine would give up no runs and no hits over his 4 innings of work, as Darius Barlas and Damien Allison would score the only runs the Pack would need as Fab DiRoma came on to shut down the Mavericks over the last 3 innings as Hall won 2 - 0. DiRoma would start the 2nd game vs. Campion, going 4 innings, scattering 3 hits and giving up only 2 runs. Leo Labine would come in to pitch the final 3 innings, surviving a shaky 7th inning when he gave up the only two runs he would allow on the day to lock down an impressive 5 - 4 victory for the Wolfpack. The offence against the Bears was led by DiRoma who had 3 RBIs on the day with 3 double and Barlas who would go 2 for 2 with 2 walks, 3 runs scored and 6 stolen bases in the game. The Pack's next game is not until after Victoria Day as they square off against Notre Dame and D'Youville as they try to wrap up their first playoff berth in four years. Mayfield, who are tied with Hall atop the division, won their 2nd game on the day, beating Campion 8 - 6, will finish their season as well after Victoria Day with games vs. Humberview and Aquinas as all the teams from Caledon hope to squeeze into the playoffs.
Hall is going to the Blue Jays Game on Wednesday, June 13. This is open to all junior level students. The baseball team will be selling tickets in front of the caf on 3B lunches. You must hand in a signed permission form, which is available in the main office, with your money. Tickets are limited and will go on sale starting next week. Cost is $15 Get your tickets early! Any questions, see Mr. Sweeney.

Yesterday (May 8, 2012), the Wolfpack Baseball team opened their regular season against the St. Thomas Aquinas Cardinals. Damien Allison would give Hall an early lead with an RBI single in the first inning, but the Cardinals would take flight in the third inning, eventually holding a 6 – 2 lead. However, Brandon Heinrichs would shut them down on the mound to give the bats a chance to take over. Lead by the walks by Anthony Zambito, and with hits by Joseph Remm and Quinton Davis, Hall would come storming back in the 4th inning, scoring six runs, punctuated by the big double by Fab DiRoma which cleared the bases, scoring Tyler Valentine with the winning run. Damien Allison would come in to pitch in the final inning with the winning run standing at 2nd base to lock down the save for an 8 – 7 victory.

Yesterday, (April 25, 2012) the Wolfpack Baseball team left the snow of Orangeville behind to travel to the sunny south of Brampton to face off against the Brampton Centennial Bucks and the Lorne Park Spartans. In the 1st game, Fabio DiRoma and Katie Hauck scattered 7 hits over 6 innings of work, allowing only 1 Earned Run, however, the bats and the gloves let them down as errors led to Hall dropping a 4 - 1 decision.
In the 2nd game, Leo Labine once again pitched a brilliant game, surviving an early scare when he gave up two runs. Those would be the only runs he would allow over his 4 innings, as he was dominant over the Spartans, racking up 8 strikeouts. The bats came alive a bit, with DiRoma leading the way with 2 hits and 2 walks, however, errors would once again raise their ugly head as the defence would spoil some good pitching by Brandon Heinrichs as the Spartans would score a pair of late runs to steal a 4 - 3 victory from the Wolfpack.
The Pack will try to salvage the final game of the tournament when they face off against the Humberview Huskies. Players are to be excused from class at 12:20 and be ready to go as soon as possible.

Spring is here, and that means that the familiar sounds of the crack of the bat and the pop of the mitt are being heard as baseball is back in town. Caledon is well represented with teams at Humberview, St. Michael, Mayfield and Robert F. Hall. The Robert F. Hall C.S.S. Varsity Boys Baseball team travelled down to Port Hope yesterday (April 18, 2012) for their first two games of the season against Trinity College, and surprisingly, they didn’t get rained out! It was a great day for baseball, as the pitchers dominated both games. The first game ended in a 2 – 2 tie. Fab DiRoma and Katie Hauck were nearly unhittable, but some shaky defence and poor base running led to missed opportunities as the Wolfpack had to settle for the tie. In the 2nd game, Leo Labine and Damien Allison were again nearly unhittable and the bats came alive, as nearly everyone on the team got hits on the day, as the Wolfpack cruised to an easy 16 - 2 victory. The Wolfpack next games are next Wednesday and Thursday in the annual Brampton Centennial Tournament.
