BOYS HOCKEY

HOCKEY

 

On Monday and Tuesday the Junior Boys Hockey team competed in the prestigious Cabernet Cup.

On Monday the team got off to a tough start losing to Hill Academy and Mount Carmel, then tied St. Martins 2 to 2 with only 9 skaters.

 

Tuesday, with a full team, the Wolfpack started to roll winning 3 consecutive games including winning the Bronze Pool Championship 5 to 0 over St. Martins, on a shut out by Eric Pitcher.

The tournament M.V.P.'s were goaltending duo Eric Pitcher and Malcolm Young.

 

Coaches Mattachini and Vander Doelen and Morrison would like to thank the team for an enjoyable season.

 

 

 

 

JUNIOR BOYS HOCKEY

 

In hockey action, Thursday February 9, the Wolfpack took on David Suzuki of Brampton. The team got off to a slow start trailing 2 – 0, but were kept in the game by the outstanding goaltending of Joe D’Amico. The team battled back in the 2nd period and in the 3rd took the lead eventually winning 6 – 3. Goal scorers included Brad Arthurs, Jordan Krellar, Nick Tassielli, Jake Rosati, Dalton Lisso and Steve Smythe.

 

 

JUNIOR BOYS HOCKEY

 

In hockey action, onTuesday February 7, the Wolfpack  took on 1st  place St. Mike’s. For two periods the game was a tight-checking physical affair with the Wolfpack trailing 2-1 on a goal by Nick Pirraglia in the top shelf. In the third period St. Mike’s extended their lead to 3-1 on a defensive Wolfpack breakdown , eventually winning the game 4 – 1. Our next game is Thursday against David Suzuki.

 

 

JUNIOR BOYS HOCKEY

 

In hockey action, on Wednesday January 18, the Wolfpack played David Suzuki. The Wolfpack jumped out to a 3 – 0 lead after the first period, but then turned to individual play and a lack of responsibility in the defensive end. This allowed Suzuki to battle back into the game. In the third period the Wolfpack shut down their opponent eventually winning 7 – 4. Goal scorers included 2 by Dalton Lisso and singles by Cameron Gardilcic, Greg Johnstone, Nick Pirraglie, Tyler Hayley, and Andrew the “HOUSE” Hart.

 

The Wolfpack are now undefeated in their last 3 games and look forward to continuing after the exams!

 

 

 

JUNIOR BOYS HOCKEY

 

In hockey action, on Thursday January 12, the Wolfpack took on St. Marcellinus. The team played a great defensive game led by Jake Rosati, Greg Johnstone, Brad Arthurs, and Jake Smith on defense. The team trailed 1 – 0 after 2 periods but tied the game in the third on a goal by QUITON Davis. With a minute to go, rookie sensation Scott Dominey had a chance to win the game on a breakaway. He made a great move on the goalie, but couldn’t put the pick in the net. The Wolfpack settled for a 1 – 1 tie, but outplayed and outshot their opponents. Next Week the team practices Tuesday and has an away game Wednesday. Good luck Wolfpack!

 

 

 

JUNIOR BOYS HOCKEY

 

In hockey action, Tuesday January 10, the Wolfpack took on second place Mount Carmel. The team trailed 4-2 in the third period but battled back to tie the game 4-4. An excellent team effort! The team was led offensively by Christian Arcuri with 2 goals and singles by Andrew Hart and Nick Pirraglia. Our next game is Thursday against 3rd place Sr. Marcellinus. Good luck Wolfpack!

On hockey action on Tuesday December 13, the Wolfpack took on St. Francis Xavier. The Wolfpack held leads of 3 – 2 and 4 – 3 but eventually lost the game 6 -4. Goal scorers included 2 by Nick Pirraglia and singles by Jake Rosati and Nick Tessielli.

In hockey action, the Wolfpack took on St. Marcellinus last night, Thursday December 8. The Wolfpack fell behind early 2-0, but battled back in the 2nd period with goals by Steven Smythe and Nick Pirraglia. However, a lack of self discipline eventually cost the team, giving up four power play goals and eventually losing 5-2. Our next game is Tuesday against St. Francis Xavier.

In hockey action, on Tuesday December 6, the Wolfpack took on 2nd place Mount Carmel. After 2 periods the Wolfpack found themselves down 4-2 giving up 2  5 on 3 goals in the 2nd period. In the third period the Wolfpack battled hard and eventually tying the game and making the final score 4-4.

 

Goal scorers included a hat trick by Tyler Hayley and a blast from the point by Jordan Kreller.

 

The Wolfpack player of the game was Nick Pirraglia who set up 3 goals and played great 2-way hockey all game. Way to go Wolfpack!

 

 

JUNIOR BOYS HOCKEY

 

In junior boys hockey action, on Tuesday November 29, the Wolfpack were led by the outstanding goaltending of Eric Pitcher and a determined effort by our fore checking forwards along with defensive stand out play of Brad Arthurs and Jack Rosati.

 

The 5 on 5 play was even all game, however the Wolfpack gave up 3 power play doals in a losing effort. Way to go Wolfpack!

 

 

 

JUNIOR BOYS HOCKEY TEAM

 

The Junior Hockey Team opened their season yesterday, Thursday, November 24, against St. Francis Xavier with only 10 players available, the team kept the game close with a great deal of physical effort and the outstanding goaltending of Malcolm Young. Eventually our team ran out of gas to lose the game in the 3rd period.

 

Our next game is Tuesday against rivals St. Michael’s.
