SENIOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

The boy’s volleyball team travelled to Hamilton to compete in the quad A OFSSAA Championships last week, November 25, 2011. Unfortunately the team did not play anywhere near their best and dropped their first three matches putting them in the consolation round placing them in the semifinals against RH King who went on to win the consolation final.

Overall, the team entered the tournament as the 16th best team in Ontario and left as the 11th best team. This places the team in the top 5% of all high school volleyball teams in Ontario. This is a huge accomplishment and put Robert F. Hall back on the map in the volleyball world.

A special congratulations to Aaron Dela Cruz who was selected as the fair-play award winner for the team.

SENIOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL

On Friday night, November 18, in front of a large and excited crowd your Senior Boys Volleyball Team set out to bring home ROPSSAA gold. Things started off well for the team as they took the first set 25-23. After that things took  a turn for the worse and uncharacteristically the team was unable to snap out of a slump and was defeated in four sets. The loss bit deep as the Wolfpack team should have never lost to the squad they were facing.

As disappointing and devastating as the finish was, the team did have an incredibly successful season. The team won the ROPSSAA silver medal, meaning they finished second out of 52 teams in the league. Looking back at it, I’m pretty sure the team would have accepted that at the start of the season. After the match the referee said it best by mentioning Hall is a AAA size school who just finished second in the AAAA finals.

On another positive note, team captain Markus Trence will be featured in tomorrow’s Toronto Star as the Star’s Athlete of Week. This award is not easily earned as all schools in the GTA have the opportunity to nominate an athlete. Congratulations Markus and we look forward to seeing what will be said and how your picture turns out.

The team now continues on to the OFSAA championships at the end of the week where they will take on the top 16 high school volleyball teams from across Ontario. Best of luck boys, you did the school proud.

SENIOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL

On Wednesday, November 16, they travelled 45 minutes to get there. They had to sit outside as they weren’t allowed in the gym until 30 minutes before game time. They were asked to move all of their belongings twice before the game even started. So, what did they do? They dismantled the Lynx!

Your Senior Boys Volleyball Team is OFSSAA bound! Your boys played in-front of a packed gymnasium filled with Lynx fans, drums, horns, bells and whistles, but they were not fazed. The boys jumped on the Lynx early, destroying them 25-9 in the first set. The teams battled back and forth over the next three sets with the Lynx taking two and Hall taking one, leading to a thrilling and decisive fifth set. Your Wolfpack boys bore down and showed the Lynx who the true beast is and ran away with a 15-9 victory!

With the victory the boys advanced to both the Quad A All Ontario Championships and the ROPSSAA final which takes place this Friday evening at Rick Hansen Secondary School at 8:00pm. Tickets for the final are available at the Rick Hansen gym for $2.00 if you show your student ID card. Please arrange to attend and spend the early part of your Friday evening supporting your school. Once again that is the Tier One ROPSSAA Boys Volleyball Championship game, featuring your Robert F. Hall Wolfpack, tomorrow evening at 8:00 pm at Rick Hansen Secondary School. See you there!

SENIOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL

The Senior Boy’s Volleyball Team continued their push toward the Tier One finals yesterday, Monday November 14, with an exciting 3-1 set victory over Brampton Christian Academy. It took the boys the find set to find their legs, but once they did they didn’t look back . The team didn’t have their best game, but they pulled from within themselves and found the drive to win. With the win the team advances to the semi-finals and will be travelling to Stephen Lewis Secondary School to face the Lynx.

A huge thanks goes out to the many staff members and students who stayed after school to support the team. You were a huge part of the victory!

SENIOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL TEAM

The Senior Boys Volleyball Team competed in the Annual St. Joan of Arc Volleyball tournament yesterday, November 3, 2011. The team got off to a slow start and never really found their groove their entire day, but were still able to reach the quarter-finals where they fell to the host school.  The entire team would like to congratulate the tournament MVP Robert Keszeg.  Robert picked up volleyball for the first time two months ago and has become a key part to the team.  Unfortunately yesterday was Roberts’ last day with the team as he is now choosing to enter the work force.  Best of luck Robert and the team will dearly miss you.

The Boys Volleyball Team has their first playoff game in the Robert Hall gymnasium this Thursday at 3:30.  Please come cheer on your team and support them in their quest to the finals.

SENIOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL

On Friday, October 28th, the senior boys volleyball team put the undefeated season record on the line against the Braithwaite Blizzard.  The team was missing their captain for the match, but the team didn’t miss a step as every player on the team stepped up and willed the team to an easy victory.  A special mention goes out to Stephen Anderson who stepped into the starting lineup and played like someone who wants to remain there and to Aaron Della Cruz who once again lead the lead with his magic hands.

With this victory, the team finishes their regular season with a record of 9-0 and only dropped one set all season, making this one of the best regular season records in Hall history.

The team is expecting to improve upon their regular season record when the playoffs begin next week.

SENIOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL

The Senior Boys Team spent Saturday representing Hall at the Annual Applewood Axemen Senior Boys Volleyball Tournament. The team played well, sweeping the competition pool play and easily reached the finals. Unfortunately the wheels came off and the team was defeated by the host team, who the Wolfpack had easily defeated earlier in the day. Congratulations goes out to the tournament MVP Markus Trence.

SENIOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Don’t look now, but very quietly your Senior Boys’ Volleyball team is still undefeated this season! The boys extended their undefeated streak to 18 and 0 by defeating St. Marguerite D’Youville Thursday October 20, thanks to a strong play by Adrian Koc and many others. The boys will continue to represent your school as they take part in a tournament at Applewood on Saturday and a league match versus Sandalwood on Monday.
