North South Awareness Project (Nicaragua)

The world is increasingly becoming a global community with a common future. Young adults at the threshold of making decisions and choices for their future cannot ignore their global context. Their future decisions and way of life will have an impact not only on their individual lives and home communities, but also on our global future. This program helps young people broaden their horizons and understanding of global, environmental, social, economic, political and cultural issues as well as encourage them to learn a new language and become acquainted with a new reality.

The importance of this program is to help young people think in terms of common global needs and interests that are just and fair. It also provides opportunities for building bridges and learning from people who are less fortunate than most Canadians. Moreover, participants will be encouraged to learn and experience a new language and culture, which could be a very helpful skill in preparation for their careers.
