Attendance Policy
In order to maximize the learning experience, the expectation is that all students are in the school on time and are attending all classes in proper uniform with all required materials.

Students report directly to the Period 1/Home Room teacher with a note signed by one's Parent/Guardian, showing the NAME (printed), DATE, TIME and REASON FOR THE LATENESS (as in Sample Note Below).

| Regular Attendance
The student's regular attendance is a critical component of the learning process and the evaluation of student progress. Students who accumulate excessive absences will have their credit(s) reviewed at the end of the semester.
|
Unjustifed Absences
Unjustified absences will be reflected in the course evaluations. Such absences are not tolerated.
|
Justified Absences
Justified absences include school-sponsored activities, verified illnesses and special circumstances verified by Parent(s)/Guardian(s). If a student is going to be absent for a full day, a phone call by a Parent or Guardian is required on the day of the absence.
A note from the Parent(s)/Guardian(s) may be presented to the home room teacher upon returning to the school. Students without a note or a phone call must report to the ATTENDANCE OFFICE to sign in and obtain an ADMIT TO CLASS Slip.
The ATTENDANCE OFFICE opens every day at 7:30 a.m. |

Sign Out
When a student is required to leave school at any time during the day, he/she must bring a note signed by Parent(s)/Guardian(s) to the ATTENDANCE OFFICE by Period 1, indicating the date and time the student will be picked up and returned to school. The student is given an ADMIT TO CLASS slip indicating the departure time. If the student returns to school that same day, he/she must return to the ATTENDANCE OFFICE to record the time of his/her arrival back at school. Students are required to keep their ADMIT slips to show them to the teacher(s) of any missed class(es). Students who must see the Chaplain, Child & Youth Worker, or Guidance Counsellor (in an emergency) must obtain permission in writing.
Students may not be signed out and remain on school property indefinitely. Students are not permitted to sign out to go to the library during school hours.
The Library is a part of the school |
