Should this happen repeatedly, he/she may be suspended pursuant to Section 306 of the Education Act.

CIVIES DAY/DRESS DOWN DAY CLOTHING

There are a number of Civies Day (i.e. Dress Down Days) during the School year. There are ten designated days (one per month), and a One Dollar per day ($1/day) donation reserves the privilege of dressing down (See Monthly Calendars for dates).

Dress Down Days’ money raises funds for the Assisi Society and for the Student Council. A one-time payment of $10.00 collected at Registration covers the full cost of the designated, monthly days, which filters into R. F. Hall’s Charitable Donations and Student Council Activities.

Students who choose not to donate for the dress down days during Registration are required to wear the uniform at all times.

THE FOLLOWING ARE EXPECTATIONS FOR CIVIES DAYS

1.    Articles of clothing which do not comply with the principles outlined in the STUDENT CODE OF BEHAVIOUR AND DISCIPLINE, as defined by the DUFFERIN-PEEL CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD and the moral standards of our School , are unacceptable at all times.

2.    Participation in Civies Days is voluntary; those students not participating are expected to be in full uniform.

3.    Appropriate and modest dress is expected, as determined by the Uniform Committee of Staff, students, Parents and School Administration.

4.    The uniform Committee acknowledges that it cannot begin to list all inappropriate items. Regardless, the following are only a few items considered unacceptable:

×     Gang-associated clothing,

×     Bandanas/head gear,

×     Skin showing anywhere from shoulders to waist,

×     Drug-related and profane symbols,

×     Rude and offensive slogans,

×     Ripped clothing,

×     Beach apparel, and

×     Items which do not respect the rights of self and others.

5.   Hats are to be taken off in the classrooms.

6.   The Administration reserves all rights to deem the appropriateness of clothing.

Students who disregard these expectations are required to change. If they cannot change, they are sent home. In addition, these students jeopardize future Civies Days.
