In St. Roch, we are all members of the Chaplaincy Team. Our goal is to encourage staff and students to discover and develop their gifts and talents. Our community becomes stronger when we are all engaged in the life of the Body of Christ. A fundamental aspect of our community in St. Roch is our perspective: we look both inward and outward, inward to the needs, aspirations and goals of the students and staff of St. Roch, but also outward to Brampton and the world. This second thrust is most important. Sometimes adolescence can be a horribly inward, self-obsessed time. Adolescents sometimes lose the perspective that age for example, or tragedy, may bring. Sometimes the individual needs of students cuts them off from hope and openness to their future and the world. Therefore we will focus always on the needs of others in St. Roch.
What we are doing here is nurturing our students to be everything that they can be. We want them to discover that true meaning is found in the service of others. All this happens through the example that Jesus provided us. Jesus lives through our work in the classroom. –P. Fujiwara
