This session teaches participants to recognize the stages of crisis development and how to respond appropriately.  Verbal and non-verbal intervention techniques are taught along with techniques to safeguard personal safety.  Basic techniques are taught for physically restraining an out-of-control person.  Team intervention and a commitment to the care, welfare, safety, and security of everyone involved in a crisis situation are stressed.  Dufferin-Peel staff members registered for this session will be sponsored by the Health and Safety Department.  Registration and materials costs will be covered.  There will be a $15.00 materials fee in addition to registration costs for non-Dufferin-Peel participants.  This will be collected at the session.

This session provides a review of the two day initial training course including the stages of crisis development, non-verbal and verbal intervention techniques, personal safety techniques, and basic techniques for restraining an out-of-control person.  Team interventions and a commitment to the care, welfare, safety and security of everyone involved in a crisis situation are stressed.  Participants in this review program must have previously completed the 2 day CPI initial training program.  Dufferin-Peel staff registered for this session will be sponsored by the Health and Safety Department.  Registration and materials costs will be covered.  There will be a $10.00 materials fee in addition to registration costs for non-Dufferin-Peel participants.  This will be collected at the session.

Prerequisite for course registration:  Previous completion of the original two-day
CPI Crisis Intervention initial training or one-day refresher training. Please be prepared to present the blue completion card issued upon completion of this training.
