Catholic Community, Culture, and Caring

·         Increase the sense of belonging, inclusion, connectedness and safety amongst students

·         Conduct CCCAC survey

·         Hearts and Hands club continues working on community outreach programs

·         Although many of this activities will be coming to an end this year, the school will  continue to build on these plans and create new ones for the 2011-2012 school year

Literacy

·         By 2013, to improve student performance on EQAO by 5%

·         Students and teachers will share a common understanding of the learning goals and related success criteria by:

-providing common planning time, common guided reading time for primary division; dedicated literacy block;  creation of thinking matrix at each grade level; implementation of Growing Success Document; clustering of expectations and curriculum mapping for TLCP formulation and implementation

·         Students and staff are addressing these strategies and consolidation of these strategies will continue into the new school year

·         School has been focusing on literacy initiatives as its main goal

·         Students are demonstrating  improvement in this area

 

Numeracy

·         By 2013, to improve student performance on EQAO by 5%

·         During learning students receive ongoing descriptive feedback based on the success criteria from the teachers and peers

·         Intermediate students involved with Homework Help program

·         Dedicated numeracy block

·         Students and staff continuing to work on these plans for this year.

·         Numeracy will be a main focus for next year

·         Students are demonstrating improvement in this area

Pathways and Transitions

·         To ensure smooth transitions for gr. 8 students to secondary

·         To ensure smooth transition for students in the ELKP classes

·         Cross panel transition meetings as per the “Being, Becoming and Belonging” document

·         Provide appropriate resources for the implementation of the Full Day Kindergarten program

·         Maintain communication with parents so that they fully aware of their options for our grade 8 students and our kindergarten students

·         Teachers and gr. 8 students have had the opportunity to visit St. Martin’s

·         Teachers have met to discuss at risk students

·         Teachers and students in the ELKP classes have adjusted quite nicely to the full day program

Employee Support and Training

·         Teachers are encouraged to take advantage of PD opportunities to enrich and enhance their teaching practices based on school goals

·         Teachers are involved in the TLCP process at the school level

·         Teachers work collaboratively  with teaching partners to provide a consistent program and assessments for all students

·         The TLCP cycle has completed for this year. Teachers will meet to discuss the status of this year’s focus and determine focus for next school year

Expanded Accountability and Transparency

·         Maintain a balanced budget

·         Monitor budgets: operational, school generated, petty cash and school council

·         Provide necessary financial funds for teachers to deliver appropriate programming for the students
