 Welcome to the Moderns Page

 Bonjour! Hola!

The St. Joseph’s Moderns Department has been hard at work ensuring that this will be the best year yet for our students! Students in our French and Spanish classes have been given the opportunity to demonstrate their Faith through leading the school in prayer during the morning announcements. During the week of October 16-20, various students led the student body in honouring our Mother Mary through Rosary prayer. Each student recited the Hail Mary in a different language over the P.A. This initiative not only demonstrated St. Joe’s cultural diversity, but also built a sense of pride in our entire student body. We are looking forward to having more volunteers step up for second semester. If you are interested, come see us in the Moderns Department Room 315!

 Voyage à Toronto

On Friday, March 4th, Madame Lijoi-Veli’s and Madame Palmieri’s Grade 10 French classes had the opportunity to visit the Royal Ontario Museum. The students received a guided tour in French which was aimed at enhancing the understanding and appreciation of natural history and world cultures. The ROM offers a wide variety of French services, including gallery and exhibition interpretation, advertising material, telephone information and Web site. The students participated well using the target language and did not hesitate to ask questions in French. This was an authentic experience for the students, not only because it sharpened their language skills, but also because it raised awareness about the francophone culture in our community. The students don’t have to travel far to experience the French language. Bravo les élèves de St. Joseph!
