Interested in running for student Prime Minister or Deputy Prime Minister?  Do you want to raise school spirit or lead events during this time?  Please read the following descriptions below. ​The Student Council is an elected representative body of the students at Ascension of our Lord. Consisting of students from all grade levels and representatives who act as faith ambassadors, the council purposefully initiates and directs student activities, acts as a liaison with Ascension of our Lord staff, and represents the student body on specific Ascension of our lord committees. These students also engage in the mentoring of other students, charitable activities and leadership training.

Roles on Student Council

​​Prime Minister 

Working with the school staff, especially the staff advisor for student council, the Prime Mi​nister brings forth the ideas of the student body. The Prime Minister leads every student council meeting from brainstorming, developing, and executing plans and events.  ​ The Prime Minister helps to foster community amongst the students and staff.  They represent the school at school events and are the voice for the students of Ascension of our Lord. 

Deputy Prime Minister

​This student supports and works with the Prime Minister in executing the plans of the student council.  When the school Prime Minister is unable to attend meetings and school events, the Deputy Prime Minister assumes all duties of the Prime Minister.

Minister of Social Justice-Opened to all grades

This student plans and organizes social justice initiatives in the school community as a representative and leader from student council.

Minister of Finance-Opened to all grades

​This students works with the student council staff advisor to ensure items purchased or used for student events are itemized and purchased.

Minister of Communications and Social Media-Opened to all grades

This students ensures the student body knows what student council is doing as well as promoting events to the student body.  This student takes notes during the student council meetings.

Minister of Faith-Opened to all grades​

This students ensures that the planned student events have a faith component.  This minister consults the Chaplaincy leader for any guidance or support.  They lead prayer at meetings and may be called upon to do it at other school events.

This student is the voice of the grade 9 class on student council.
