St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Elementary School is located in South Mississauga at 2480 Thornlodge Drive.
The school first opened their doors in 1967 and was blessed on June 16, 1968.
Currently there are approximately 425 students who attend the school.
Who was St. Francis of Assisi?
- St. Francis of Assisi is one of the most renowned saints.
- After receiving a message from Christ calling him to a new life, St. Francis formally renounced his wealth and began helping the sick, preaching in the streets, and welcoming and assisting the poor.
- He is known as the Saint of Peace and Care for Creation and for his love for animals, nature, and commitment to peace.
- He had many followers and founded the first Franciscan order, the Friars Minor, in 1209.
- St. Francis was canonized as a saint in 1228, two years after his death in 1226.
