Site Application Links will be made available online through the DPCDSB Extended French Webpage starting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. The online application process involves the uploading of the two completed required documents (Extended French – Registration - 2023-2024 and a PDF copy of the Grade 4 Term 1 Student Report Card) and submitted to the appropriate Extended French Site Application Link by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. More information will be provided at the information sessions mentioned above.



Kindergarten Registration for the 2023-24 school year begins January 9Parents/Guardians can register students online at dpcdsb.org

 

Kindergarten registration for the 2023-24 school year at Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) schools will take place Monday, January 9 to Friday, January 13, 2023. The DPCDSB offers the Kindergarten program in 125 Catholic elementary schools in Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon, Bolton and Orangeville.

 

Parents/guardians can register online at dpcdsb.org.Registration is open to Catholic children and children of Catholic parents. Kindergarten students must be at least four (4) years of age by December 31, 2023.

 

The following documents are required to complete the registration process: 

  • Proof of age of the child
  • Original Roman Catholic baptismal certificate (for child and/or parent/guardian) or original baptismal certificate from a church in full communion with the Holy See of Rome or an Eastern Catholic Church.
  • Immunization Reference #’s from the local Public Health Unit
  • Proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status
  • Proof of home address
  • Proof of English Separate School Support

DPCDSB to host Entry Planning and Transition Information Session for students with Differing Abilities

On Wednesday, January 18, 2023, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board’s (DPCDSB) Special Education and Learning Services Department will host an information session to support the entry planning and transition of students with differing abilities who will be new to the DPCDSB for September 2023. During this session, parents/guardians will have the opportunity to meet with board staff and learn about the entry planning process for students with differing abilities. Differing abilities may include, but are not limited to the following areas: blind low vision, hearing, speech, autism, physical/medical and/or developmental delays in the cognitive and/or motor areas.

The information session will be held at the Catholic Education Centre in Mississauga from

7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.Parents/guardians are asked to register online for this event by Monday, January 16, 2023.

Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board to Hold Public Information Meetings for 2023-2024 French Immersion Program

The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) will hold two virtual public information meetings for parents and guardians interested in enrolling their child(ren) in the board’s Grade 1 French Immersion Program for the 2023-2024 school year. 

The information sessions will provide parents and guardians with the following:

·      an overview of the French Immersion Program

·      criteria for admission,

·      information about the online application process,

·      information about the random selection process (should the number of applications exceed thenumber of spaces available).

 

DPCDSB currently offers the Grade 1 French Immersion Program at eight school sites. Students registered in this Grade 1 program will spend 90% of their year learning in the French language. All subjects and activities in the French Immersion classroom, except for Religion and Family Life, will be delivered in French. In Grades 2 and 3, 70% of the instruction will be in French, with the proportion of English increasing to 50% in later years. This means that after at least 3,800 hours of French instruction by the end of Grade 8, students will be able to participate adequately in French conversations and develop intercultural awareness of French-speaking communities.Virtual information sessions for parents/guardians will be held on two different evenings based on region of interest. We ask that parents/guardians attend only one of the following online sessions:

Kindergarten Registration for the 2022-23 school year began January 10, 2022

Hot & Cold Weather Plan

St. Edmund will follow the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and Peel Health guidelines during the hot weather.  Some of the measures we will take are: 

  • Monitor heat advisories and adjust activities as necessary and possible;
  • Remind everyone to wear light clothing; a broad brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen;
  • Remind everyone to drink plenty of water (several of our fountains have bottle filling stations);
  • Keep physical activity down during the hot periods of the day;
  • Encourage students to seek shade during recess periods;
  • When possible ensure indoor temperatures are comfortable by keeping blinds/curtains drawn,  keep all windows open, and use authorized circulating fans; as well as,
  • Rotate classes through our air conditioned library. 

Windchill
At -20 to -24 degrees, time outside will be limited to a maximum of 20 minutes.

At -25 degrees or colder, students will remain inside.

Humidex

At 35-39 degrees, time outside is limited to a maximum of 20 minutes.

At 40 degrees or above, students will remain inside.

Staff will be made aware of the signs and symptoms of heat stroke, heat exhaustion and heat cramps and directed to follow first aid procedures promptly. 

​Please assist us by having your child wear a hat, loose fitting clothing, sunglasses, and by putting sunscreen on them in the morning.
