The message that would affect Good Shepherd bussing will be as follows:

"All buses for the Peel District School Board and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board have been cancelled."

NOTE: If school buses are cancelled, it means that there will be no bus to or from school. Parents who drive their children to school in the morning must also arrange to pick them up at the end of the day.

If buses are cancelled and you have to keep your children home as a result, there is no need to call in their absence.  If your child is not a bus student and you choose to keep your child home due to inclement weather, you must call and report their absence.  The number is 905-791-1039 press 1 to leave a message on the attendance line

Student Transportation Updates September 2018

Please find attaches information for parents regarding school start up transportation procedures for students in Kindergarten to grade 8.

 STOPR DPPB SchoolStartUpJUNE2018.pdf

If your home address will be changing during the summer, please notify the office staff at your child’s school prior to June 29. Late requests will not be reflected in the planned bus routes to commence in September and may result in transportation services not being available for your child during the first weeks of school. Parents will be responsible for their children getting to and from school until appropriate transportation service is arranged.

The distance criteria for transportation eligibility must be more than: 1.0 kilometer Kindergarten and Grade 1

1.6 kilometers for Grades 2 – 4

2.0 kilometers for Grades 5 – 8

3.8 kilometers for Grades 9 – 12

If your child is moving to grade 2, grade 5, or grade 9 in the 2018-2019 school year, their eligibility status for transportation may be changing. Eligibility information can be accessed at the website noted below.

Parents who receive letters in June of this year indicating that the transportation eligibility status for their children is being revised due to eligibility reassessment are reminded that this change will occur effective September 4, 2018.

Are you Ticked? Support Catholic Education

Like many Catholics, you may be surprised to find out that you are not registered as a Separate (Catholic) School Supporter, but rather, as a Public School Supporter. By directing your tax support to the Separate School System:

- You may vote for Separate School Trustees in Municipal elections (October 22, 2018)

- Your children may attend Catholic elementary schools

- You show your support for the Catholic school system

To verify that you are an English Separate (Catholic) School Supporter, check the assessment section of your Tax Bill or Property Assessment Notice. To register as a Separate (Catholic) School Supporter or change your Direction of School Support, please contact the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board Admissions Department at 905-890-0708 ext. 24512 or admissions@dpcdsb.org.

Creating Pathways to Success

The Creating Pathways to Success Ministry policy stipulates that all students from Kindergarten to grade 12 are to be reflecting on their educational journey and establishing goals to set for their career/life planning.

In support of this expectation, Dufferin-Peel continues to foster the essence of knowing the learner through the use of electronic portfolios, while all students have access to their own personal account in myBlueprint to maintain a record of their personal growth.

In addition, Monthly Parent newsletters are now available to inform families of ways to engage their child/children in career/life planning through the maintenance and development of their e-portfolios.  Please find attached the Parent Newsletter October 2017.pdf.
