Iona Information for Grade 12 Students

September-December

  • Review credit counselling summary to ensure that graduation requirements will be complete by June 2019 (including literacy test, community service hours due April 1, and 30 credits)
  • CHECK EACH INDIVIDUAL UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE PROGRAM'S UNIQUE PRE-REQUISITES.  ENSURE YOU ARE ENROLLED IN ANY COURSES YOU NEED
  • Note non-academic program requirements (any placement tests, auditions, essays, etc.)
  • Attend University Fair Sept.28-30; College Fair October 23-24
  • Register with www.scholarshipscanada.com for award/scholarship information
  • Research SAT information at www.collegeboard.org; ACT information at act.org
  • If in Canada less than 5 years, schedule an English fluency test as required: www.ets.org/toefl
  • COLLEGE PROGRAM APPLICATIONS OPEN ONLINE IN OCTOBER…YOU CREATE AN ACCOUNT (DO IT ASAP)
  • UNIVERSITY APPLICATIONS BEGIN IN NOVEMBER ONCE PIN NUMBERS FOR IONA STUDENTS ARRIVE
  • APPLICATION FEES: University- $150 for 3 choices, plus $50 for each additional choice (no maximums).  College- $95 for 5 program choices, maximum of 3 choices from one college

January-April

  • Application equal consideration deadlines: University OUAC-January 16, 2019; College OCAS-February 1, 2019
  • Read all communication carefully…don't miss important deadlines/requirements!
  • Offers of admission are conditional and can be rescinded if final marks fall below a stated expectation…keep your marks up for the entire year
  • Create OSAP account if applying

May-June

  • May 1, 2019 is the last day to accept a COLLEGE offer
  • June 3, 2019 is the last day to accept a UNIVERSITY offer

 

Prerequisites for PSE Applications

University or College Degree program 4-year Bachelor's prerequisites:

  • 6 (4U/4M) courses that must include ENG4U + any program requirements
  • Visit electronicinfo.ca for info and cutoff averages from last year

College Diploma 2-3 year prerequisites:

  • High school diploma with ENG4C or ENG4U + any specific program requirements
