Our SHSM, Justice, Community Safety, and Emergency Service Program will enable our students to build a foundation of sector-focused knowledge and skills before graduating and entering college, university, or entry level position in the workplace. Our SHSM program is designed to focus on law, psychology, policing and emergency services. A profile of the Justice, Community Safety and Emergency Sector include the following: police officer, fire fighter, paralegal, soldier, emergency manager, correctional officer, conservation officer, border services officer, 911 dispatcher, lawyer, psychologist, social worker, youth worker and forensic psychologist. These are just some of the numerous and varied occupations in the Justice, Community Safety and Emergency Service Sector.
Our program will provide senior students of all pathway destinations with an opportunity to explore careers, develop skills, and prepare for the pursuit of careers in this sector. A unique feature of this program is the many experiential learning and career exploration opportunities we will be offering our students to prepare them for their vocational path such as working in the community and school to promote change and assist others, learning from industry experts, participating in professional workshops and training, researching post-secondary options, and building a network of experienced professionals.
