To access a database, click on the icon or the title. If a password is required, ask our library staff for the log-in information. Handouts, with detailed information about the content of each database, are available in our library. Pick up one from the counter or ask the library staff for a copy of this handout.

Periodicals

	The Toronto Star is Canada's largest online news site. Stay current with sports, business, entertainment news and more from the Toronto Star.
	The Mississauga News is a local tabloid newspaper in Mississauga, Ontario. The Mississauga News is part of Metroland Media Group, a subsidiary of Torstar. In addition to the biweekly print edition, the newspaper also operates a website including news, blogs, and multimedia content related to local news.

Encyclopedia

	Encyclopedia Britannica is a general information encyclopedia which provides thousands of magazine and journal articles, 90,000 images, videos and audio clips, a world atlas and much more.

	The Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy (IEP) was founded in 1995 to provide open access to detailed, scholarly, peer-reviewed information on key topics and philosophers in all areas of philosophy. At present, the IEP has over a million visitors per month, and about 20 million page views per year. The staff of 30 editors and approximately 300 authors hold doctorate degrees and are professors at universities around the world, most notably from English-speaking countries.
	WordReference is an online translation dictionary for, among others, the language pairs English–French, English–Italian, English–Spanish, French–Spanish, Spanish–Portuguese and English–Portuguese.

	Our Ontario has 2.3 million items and collections from libraries, archives, museums, historical societies, community groups, and government ministries.

	Audio Cine Film is a digital streaming platform with access to thousands of movie and documentary titles from film studios and producers such as Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstones Pictures, Hollywood Pictures, Pixar Animation Studios, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Columbia Pictures and MGM Studios.
	Criterion on Demand is an online feature film digital delivery platform for over 3100 educationally relevant (English/French) feature films and documentary titles. They provide easy access to educationally relevant feature films used in Canadian Higher Education Institutions.
	Curio provides access to Canada's premier educational such as stream TV, News, radio and documentary programming. Programming available through Curio includes: National Geographic, Venture, The Passionate Eye, The National, News in Review, Doc Zone, Dragons Den, Market Place and The Nature of Things.
	Digital Theatre is the world's leading digital platform for the arts. It is subscription based OTT platform that works in partnership with leading theatre & performing arts companies to capture live performances onscreen giving consumers and education institutions unlimited access to them. Digital Theatre produces films of stage productions in high-definition that can be downloaded or streamed as video on demand via its website, digitaltheatre.com (consumer) or digitaltheatreplus.com (education).
	The National Film Board of Canada is Canada's public film and digital media producer and distributor. An agency of the Government of Canada, the NFB produces and distributes documentary films, animation, web documentaries, and alternative dramas.

Its primary product, Education Planner is designed to help with secondary school course selections, and career planning for youth and young adults.The platform is currently in use by more than 360 school boards representing over 6,500 schools and over 1,000,000 users.
	Ontario Educational Resource Bank offers free digital learning resources to teachers and students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. There are thousands of resources, including units, lesson plans, activities, maps, and interactive learning resources.
