St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Elementary School is an elementary school located in the northern section of the City of Mississauga. The student population, approximately 305 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, come from a wide range of social and ethnic backgrounds reflecting the ever-increasing diversity of cultures found within Mississauga. St. Elizabeth Seton was opened in 1978. Our community consists of single family dwellings, town houses and apartments. Our school is equipped with a gym, a stage, a library, a full computer lab and a beautiful peace garden. We have a large field for our students to play on and we back on to beautiful Wabakane Park.
St. Elizabeth Seton is a caring school community environment committed to our Catholic faith and high academic standards. We provide a safe and comfortable learning environment where models of Gospel values and Catholic doctrines, teachings and beliefs are an integral part of the daily life of our school. The school motto, "Let Our Light Shine", reflects a holistic philosophy where religion and daily life are intertwined. At St. Elizabeth Seton our students participate in daily readings, prayers and reflections. Our prayer life, liturgical celebrations, the sacraments, and our faith and values system form the foundation of our school program. Our Liturgical theme this year is "I am the Resurrection and the Life". This theme is woven through all of our liturgical events and its message is displayed throughout the school. All activities at St. Elizabeth Seton; academic and pastoral work, extra-curricular and intra-curricular, prayer and worship, administration and management, help to prepare our students for their lives as Catholics in the community.
Our students come to us with a variety of strengths and needs, with their Catholic faith as their common bond. Of paramount importance at St. Elizabeth Seton is the Catholic Dimension, which permeates every aspect of our school day. We offer students a well-rounded and value-centred education to help them make good choices for the future. Every student at St. Elizabeth Seton is a child of God, with gifts to share and needs to be addressed. The curriculum planned and provided in the school is broad, balanced and relevant to the needs and aspirations of all our students. We believe in the pursuit of academic excellence and support our students to reach their potential to be the best they can be. Our child-centred programs and varied assessment strategies are employed regularly to ensure that student needs, strengths and interests are being addressed. To ensure coherence and wholeness, subjects are taught against the background of The Ontario Curriculum, the Gospel values of Jesus Christ and current educational innovations.
