 Student Insurance

As required by the Education Act and the Ministry of Education, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board annually provides parents with information about cost-effective student accident insurance coverage via student carrier "Insuremykids Pro-tection Plan." Forms were distributed to students during the first week of school.

Effective September 2012, the Dufferin-Peel CDSB requires parents/guardians to give written acknowledgement that they have received information regarding Student Insurance - expecially for those students participating in out-of-school excursions and/or extra-curricular sports activities.

Although enrolment is voluntary, the Board encourages parents to take advantage of the excursions/field trips, or, dental coverage for those who do not already have dental coverage. Parents alone have the right to insure their children.

There are two options for enrolment:

  1. 1.Complete the traditional form and mail it in.
  2. 2. Photocopy the form and fax it to Reliable Life at 1-905-522-7211 or 1-800-463-KIDS (5437).

The website is: http://www.insuremykids.com/en/Default.aspx

Please note that the Dufferin-Peel CDSB does not provide insurance for students against any accidental death, disability, dismemberment, or medical expenses that might occur as a result of an accident during school activities, including sports events and field trips.

Please note also, parents/guardians are required to acknowledge reading this information on all signed permission forms in order to allow students to participate in events requiring parental/guardian permission.

Keeping Our Students Safe

Please be mindful when driving students to or from school. Please pay attention to and follow the school zone speed limit (30 km/h) and obey the crossing guard so that we can ensure that our students are safe when they are coming to school and going home. Our driveway is a one-way driveway - follow the signs and enter through the entrance only. Please move your car towards the front of the Kiss 'N Ride line to drop off your student where the teacher on duty is available to help.

Please continue to instruct your child to behave in a manner that is safe when he/she is walking to school. This includes crossing with the crossing guard and/or at signed locations, walking with a buddy, and to always watch out for vehicles. Use sidewalks and avoid crossing or walking along the center of the parking lot.

Please provide students riding their bikes with appropriately fitted helmets that should be worn at all times while riding bikes. Cyclists should be reminded to get off their bikes and walk their bikes onto school property along the sidewalks to avoid cars moving through the Kiss 'N Ride lanes.

Note the parking lot is closed from 8:45 a.m. -9:00 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. - 3:40 p.m. to allow students, parents and staff to cross safely.

Thank you for understanding and working with us to ensure that all of our students arrive at school and go home safely.
